single shaft shredder

single shaft shredder (‘sin-gel ‘shaft shred-der) n.

Utilized in the size reduction of large, bulky and dense materials, single shaft shredders are composed of a single cutter shaft which rotates relatively slowly and sends the resulting granules through a screen to determine particle size.  Compared to twin shaft shredders, a single shaft shredder will produce a more consistent size through the use of a screen.
